Nordic Walking is defined as fitness walking with specially designed poles. It evolved from an off-season ski-training activity known as ski walking to become a way of exercising year-round. The first specially designed fitness walking poles with optional rubber tips (for hard surfaces, such as pavement) were designed by fitness walking pole pioneer Tom Rutlin, and his strapless Exerstrider® poles were introduced in the U.S. in 1988. Rutlin's efforts helped to urbanize fitness pole walking.

This position allows you to “push off” more efficiently, increasing your upper body workout. Remove the Rubber Fitness Tips to expose the Carbide Flextips if you Nordic Walk on gravel or slick surfaces.
LEKI is pronounced, “Lake-ee”. LE is the first two letters of the owner’s last name, Klaus Lenhart, and KI is from the location of the company, Kirchheim/Teck, Germany.
